Our Print Techniques

PAD PRINTING: APPROXIMATELY 10-15 PIECES / MINUTE

  • Art sized for the appropriate product to be printed is converted to a film positive (1 film positive for each color to be printed)

  • Metal plates with a light sensitive coating are placed under vacuum pressure with the film positive & exposed to a special light source

  • After exposure the plates are placed in an automatic machine & washed creating a depressed art image area down into the print plate

  • Print plates are placed into an automatic Pad Print press, ink is rolled over the art area leaving the indented area filled with ink

  • A specially designed solid silicone pad reaches down on to the print plate, picks up the image off the plate & deposits image on to the product

  • Product is then dried & ready for shipment

HIGH SPEED OFFSET PRINTING: APPROXIMATELY 120 PIECES / MINUTE

  • The processes to produce color separated art, print plates & machines used in High Speed Offset Printing were Pioneered by Giacona Container Co. over 40 years ago.
  • Art sized for the appropriate product to be printed is converted to a film negative (1 negative for each color to be printed)

  • Metal plates with a light sensitive coating are placed under vacuum pressure with the film negative & expos a special light source

  • After exposure the plates are placed in an automatic machine & washed creating a raised art image area on top of the print plate

  • The metal plate is curved & placed on magnetic cylinders inside a specially constructed Print Machine*

  • Each color to be printed has its own print plate necessary to reproduce the colored art desired

  • The machine operator registers (butt color visual registration standard*) the image to be printed from each print plate on to a specially engineered rubber surface material called the Blanket (flat to a 10,000 of an inch)

  • Each print plate deposits its image on the rotating blanket until the full image is ready to be rubbed against the product to be printed which is why it is called OFFSET and not DIRECT printing.

  • The product is fed automatically on to mandrels of exact fit to the product internal shape, all colors are printed simultaneously at a rate of approximately 120 pieces per minute

  • The product then passes thru an intense UV light source & dries instantly, is automatically stacked, sleeved (optional) & placed in cartons ready for shipment.
